Axillary Reduction

Axillary reduction is performed on patients who have excess skin and fat under the armpits. The incision is a horizontal incision under the armpit. The procedure can be performed under local or twilight anesthesia and is one to two hours in length. The stitches dissolve by themselves. The patient usually wears bandages and a sport bra for two weeks. Recovery is usually one week. Post-operative pain is between three to four.
